What type of shoes to wear on Washington DC trip?

In about two weeks (first week of December), I'm going on a trip Washington DC with some friends. I was wondering what kind of shoes should I bring. Should I bring my boots (Uggs) or should I bring my tennis shoes (New Balance)? Or should I bring both? I want to pack as light as possible and I think they are both super comfortable to walk in. How cold you get it? I 'm from Louisiana so you do not get much of a winter. Also, if you have any suggestions other packaging element, it would be a great help. Thank you!

I would like to cover both. I disagree about it snowing (this is the case at some point in December about half of our year – but we rarely have a white Christmas – The average minimum temperature is right at freezing, which tells you something. This is not usually a month of heavy rainfall, so it does not rain that much – we're much more humid in May for example in December, but only an average of 3 inches in December, and usually it is not in the kind of real shot thunderstorms we obtain summer. That said, almost anything is possible in a month where the records run from -2 (Fahrenheit) to 82! I do both if there is an option. You need to wear one, so I wear the boots (heavier) and stash the tennis shoes in your suitcase. It will probably be cold to you. The high average in the 40s and low, as I said is 32 – but you have a warm place. But given the variability of the weather, I would bring layers and a light raincoat that will cross over, if I were you. Layers pack more easily than larger clothes, and if the weather is mild, you do not have to worry. You can pack light – and my suggestion is to do – but make sure that the layers!
